If you ever speak with a trainer who says the only way to lose weight is their way, or read an article which has this at the start, then save your time and money and walk away as quickly as possible! If there were only one way to lose weight, then it stands to reason that no one would waste their time doing anything else! Any personal trainer worth their name will know that there are many different approaches and different people respond in different ways. Why would so many of us put weight back on after losing it if it were that easy?
If there were only one true way to lose weight, then far more people would be successful on their diets, WeightWatchers and Slimming World would go out of business and there would be no obesity crisis!
The truth is that everyone is different, and there are many ways of getting you the results that you want. It’s always a mistake for a trainer to project what worked for them onto to others. Just because I like lifting heavy weights doesn’t mean that you will. A good trainer will find a method that not only you will enjoy, but one that you can maintain. A good trainer will find out about your lifestyle, your work and family life, your preferences and your dislikes. All of these things will play a part in putting together a great programme that will help you lose weight and get the results that you want to achieve.
